PRPASS May Session: SQL Server Fast Track DW - Getting the best of SQL Server 2008 Scalability      
Abstract:

Microsoft SQL Server Fast Track Data Warehouse is a new set of reference architectures for data warehousing that will help eliminate many of the barriers companies traditionally face while creating data warehouses. For as little as $13,000 per terabyte, SQL Server Fast Track Data Warehouse gives customers immediate access to pretested, preconfigured industry-standard hardware that increases Microsoft SQL Server 2008 scalability up to 32 terabytes, and helps reduce the time and effort necessary to deploy mission-critical projects.

SQL Server Fast Track Data Warehouse is designed to deliver up to 200 MB per second per central processing unit core increasing performance and linear scalability out of the box with minimal tuning required, thereby saving IT departments more time and money.

Abstract: First session: SQL Server 2008 Management Data Warehouse (MDW)

As a way to improve our visibility of what is happening with our server and databases in order to get the best response times and high availability, a great improvement of SQL Server 2008 is the ability to collect performance statistics in an automated way. The management data warehouse (MDW) is a relational database that contains the data that is collected from a server that is a data collection target. This data is used to generate the reports for the System Data collection sets, and can also be used to create custom reports.

Abstract: In this session we will present the new Policy-base Management feature in SQL Server 2008 that helps SQL Server administration. This provides the Database Administrators for the management of SQL Server instances by intent through clearly defined policies, thus reducing the potential for administrative errors. The policy-based framework implements the policies behind the scene with a Policy Engine, SQL Server Agent jobs, SQLCLR, DDL triggers and Service Broker. PRPASS Session 11 - SQL Server 2008 – Resource Governor      
Abstract: Resource Governor is a new technology in SQL Server 2008 that enables you to manage SQL Server workload and resources by specifying limits on resource consumption by incoming requests. In an environment where multiple distinct workloads are present on the same server, Resource Governor enables you to differentiate these workloads and allocate shared resources as they are requested, based on the limits that you specify. These resources are CPU and memory.

Understanding MS-SQL XML Capabilities      
Abstract: MS-SQL 2005 does further support Xml trough various components, interfaces and features through the Native Client, T-SQL and the .Net CLR. Xml is a first class citizen in this MS-SQL 2005 release. This presentation will go through each of the interfaces available to access the Xml features and tools. Various demonstrations will be provided to show how to manage definition schemas, create valid Xml document instances, and query and manipulate those through XPath, XQuery and XSLT.
