Life Beyond the Chaotic Data Management World: Introduction to Master Data Services in SQL Server 2012
Level: 100 (Beginner)
Audience: IT Professionals

The daily operations of any business rely on a set of reliable master (non-transactional) data that fuels processes and interactions with peers and customers. This data is the lifeblood of an organization, but inconsistent of this data across business units or systems can lead to inefficient processes and inaccurate analytics. Even with data warehouse implementations in terms of data, if garbage in…garbage out.

Simple reference (master) data can include system codes, geographies (state and country tables), zip codes, currencies, etc. More complex reference data might expand into items such as a customer, product catalog, location data, a chart of accounts, asset lists and others.

Master Data Services (MDS) is the SQL Server solution for Master Data Management that helps ensure consistent object definitions across systems. Join to this session to learn and see the basic components of an MDM solution in action and the great value it can add to your organization.
